The Whittemore House really stands out in its well-preserved historic appearance. We spent a lot of time touring modern venues and chose the Whittemore House as its unique decor fit so much better for a cozy fall wedding than the myriads of rooftop gray-box venues available throughout DC.
The Whittemore House really shinned for our wedding day. Walter went above and beyond to make sure we had the best day of experience. From covering a light so we could do our first look where we wanted, to making sure my dad had nice scotch Walter and the whole staff took such great care of everyone.
After a venue cancellation issue due to construction, the Whittemore House came to our rescue with 3 months to go before our wedding. The venue is an awesome place to explore, photograph, and enjoy with any event, and the WH team was great to work with. They have a beautiful garden and receptions rooms.
Unique and historical venue that was perfect for Les Dames d'Escoffier scholarship fundraiser to benefit women in wine, food and hospitality. Short walking distance from the metro.
Getting married at The Whittemore House
The Whittemore House comes up for weddings — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the tour worth it. First, see the garden at the time of day and season you'd actually get married — a garden that glows at golden hour in June can look very different at noon in March, so ask what's in bloom for your date and walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move, and does it hold everyone?), shade and bugs for a summer afternoon, the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular garden dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
