The setting
“I agree there are many gardens that can boast better floral arrangements and many botanical gardens even better in terms of variety and uniqueness.”
“My go-to spots are the greenhouse, the reflecting pool, the rose garden in full bloom, and the brick staircase — each one feels like a completely different location.”
“The estate grounds are beautifully maintained, with plenty of open space for kids to explore comfortably while grown‑ups take in the scenery.”

“But, when it comes to see overall arrangement, a historic castle, lot of seating places with multiple views, pool, food trucks, amazing food place etc.”

From the reviews
I loved my experience here. It started with the drive there, which took us through meticulously manicured neighborhoods south of the location. Then we drove out into the forested area, with an easy feeling of meandering along the side of a lake. Watch out for cyclists, as it is also a popular bicycling route.
1. One of most innovative garden concepts i have come across and would rate it above Burcharts garden in Canada. Just because of continuous effort in bringing new concepts such as trolls, trains, lighting ..different season and something new is up there. We always look forward to this garden with our family. 2.
Filoli is endlessly photogenic (amazing for engagement, wedding, fashion photography) and I keep coming back because it never looks the same twice — the blooms change constantly through the year. Shoot 3 hours before sunset for the best light. Go on a weekday, the difference in crowd level is significant.
Getting married at Filoli Historic House & Garden
Filoli Historic House & Garden comes up for weddings — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the tour worth it. First, see the garden at the time of day and season you'd actually get married — a garden that glows at golden hour in June can look very different at noon in March, so ask what's in bloom for your date and walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move, and does it hold everyone?), shade and bugs for a summer afternoon, the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular garden dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
Corporate events & private parties at Filoli Historic House & Garden
Reviews and the venue's own info mention corporate events, retreats, or private parties at Filoli Historic House & Garden — garden venues often have real weekday availability since weddings claim the weekends. A quick call answers the three things that matter: weekday and off-season rates, whether the space works for your headcount and A/V needs, and what catering is allowed. If your event lands on a Friday or Saturday in wedding season, ask early.
