From the reviews
We had our wedding at Black Sheep Shelter and truly don’t have enough words to describe how magical and meaningful this venue is. The setting is breathtaking: the open meadow, the beautifully restored pavilion, the flowers blooming, and the surrounding trees made for the most stunning backdrop to our day.
We feel so lucky to have gotten married at this incredible venue! The entire space is clearly cared for with so much love and intention (it truly felt like a Midwestern paradise!!) Every little detail of the grounds added to the magic of the day, and our guests couldn’t stop raving about how beautiful everything was.
My husband and I were married late September of 2023. Our entire experience with Jeff and Melissa was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. We immediately felt so comfortable and connected to them, and had tons of support from them with ideas, vendors, planning tips, setup, and our itinerary.
Look no further if you are looking for your perfect wedding venue!! We thought we had our minds made up for our wedding venue until we met Jeff & Melissa and toured their beautiful property. We had our wedding on October 20 and took a chance with the weather. Let me tell you, it was perfect.
Getting married at Black Sheep Shelter
Black Sheep Shelter comes up for weddings — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the tour worth it. First, see the garden at the time of day and season you'd actually get married — a garden that glows at golden hour in June can look very different at noon in March, so ask what's in bloom for your date and walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move, and does it hold everyone?), shade and bugs for a summer afternoon, the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular garden dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
