My husband and I spent a marvelous 30 nights at the Backroad Barn in Northern Illinois, and it was a truly restorative escape from Phoenix’s sweltering summer. We stayed in the generously spacious two-bedroom unit—complete with a roomy living room, well-equipped kitchen, dining area, and a convenient washer and dryer.
We had our wedding at Backroad Barn and Gardens on 9.27.2025. It was the most amazing venue we could have ever asked for. Our ceremony out by the shilohs made for the most beautiful scenery when guests were arriving and finding there seats and or reception inside of the barn was perfect, still elegant and modern.

Besides the gorgeous, well cared for, picturesque location the owners/hosts are the most considerate, hardworking, compassionate people! They were beyond accommodating, running around tending to every need, every detail and every guest!
Getting married at Backroad Barn & Gardens

First, see the garden at the time of day and season you'd actually get married — a garden that glows at golden hour in June can look very different at noon in March, so ask what's in bloom for your date and walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move, and does it hold everyone?), shade and bugs for a summer afternoon, the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular garden dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
