From the reviews
My daughter's wedding was held here so it will always be special to our family. There's a beautiful rose garden in back and the grounds are well maintained and lovely. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is because of the lack of access for disabled people due to the many stairs.
I was honored to officiate a wedding on the property, what a beautiful setting and stunning rose garden as well. We didn't go inside this time, but years ago my brother had his wedding inside and the property is fabulously maintained. Nice place for a wedding or a holiday event, plenty of space for everyone.
What a fantastic venue for a wedding. Karen. Rickie. And Bob are fantastic thank you tumwater historical society for preserving a great Washington state icon. Looking forward to having our special day there.
The Schmidt House was the perfect venue for our wedding!! The grounds are large and beautiful (the rose garden is in full bloom in late July!!!), the house is very nice and full of Olympia history, and Karen was a pleasure to work with.
Getting married at Schmidt House
Schmidt House comes up for weddings — confirmed on their own site. Two things make the tour worth it. First, see the garden at the time of day and season you'd actually get married — a garden that glows at golden hour in June can look very different at noon in March, so ask what's in bloom for your date and walk the path your guests take from parking to ceremony to reception. Second, bring your real questions: the rain plan (where does the ceremony move, and does it hold everyone?), shade and bugs for a summer afternoon, the catering and bar policy, the music curfew, and exactly what's included — tables, chairs, setup, and teardown are where quotes quietly diverge. Popular garden dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
